Cleveland, TN - Bradley County
Cleveland was established in 1837 as a county seat for Bradley County. The town was named after Colonel Benjamin Cleveland, a commander at the Battle of Kings Mountain during the American Revolution. The average elevation is 875 feet above sea level, the terrain being the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Cleveland is located on Interstate 75, 25 miles northeast of Chattanooga. The City is a short distance from the Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest, site of the 1996 Olympic canoe and kayak events on the scenic Ocoee River. Outdoor recreational activities are plentiful. It is also a short drive to a short drive to cities like Atlanta, Nashville, or Knoxville. Here a small-city feeling mixes with progressive business, excellent medical, educational and cultural facilities, and thriving industry to create an ideal place to live, work, raise a family and even retire.

The first inhabitants of the Chattanooga area were Native American Indians, sites are found dating back to the Upper Paleolithic period. Chief John Ross was said to have stated that Chattanooga was Cherokee for 'The Big Catch' because of good fishing on the Tennessee River.
